Welcome to the home of Clay County, Georgia. We are located on the banks of Lake Walter F. George and the Chattahoochee River approximately 70 miles south of Columbus, Georgia. Our county seat, Fort Gaines, is located at the site of the Walter F. George Dam and Lock.

Our traditional southern charm has attracted many retirees to our area. We are strategically located within 20 to 45 minutes of both Georgia and Alabama major hospitals, doctors, shopping malls, restaurants and military facilities including Fort Benning, GA and Fort Rucker, AL.

4/01/08: CLAY COUNTY 4-H RABIES CLINIC Saturday, May 24, 2008 8:30-11:30 AM in the Lot across from Clay County Extension Office Commerce Street, Fort Gaines Rabies shots - $8.00 Combinations Shots plus Rabies Dogs - $20 each – distemper, parvo, influenza, hepatitis Cats - $30 each – leukemia and Flovac (4 way distemper) All dogs & cats must be on a leash or in a carrier.
