Clay-Quitman Leadership In 2005, Clay and Quitman Counties jointly formed Clay-Quitman Leadership. This was the first regional leadership class in the State of Georgia. Sponsored in part by The University of Georgia, Fanning Institute through the Georgia Rural Development Council's Community Leadership Initiative. The process begins with a steering committee made up of community leaders, previous graduates and sponsors. The steering committee puts together a comprehensive training program with guidance from The Fanning Institute. The Leadership Class is for adults 18 years of age and older. If approved, the third year, the Leadership Class will be focused on our Youth. Clay and Quitman County are honored to have two graduating classes. These graduates are our current and future leaders in our communities and a leadership bank for various organizations, boards, authorities and government roles. The 2008-2009 school year will feature Leadership classes to the Clay County Middle School eighth graders. We look forward to an exciting new class and the opportunities and challenges we will explore! In 2009-2010 the adult leadership class will continue.
